Harvest Onions & Garlic

Mid-summer is garlic and onion harvesting time. When the bottom leaves of garlic start to yellow pull the plant. Braid soft neck garlic varieties while the leaves are still supple.

When onion tops start to flop over harvest the bulbs. Bundle garlic braids and groups of onion bulbs with VELCRO® Brand Plant Ties and hang them in a dark, airy location to dry.

Summer is a great time to cut flowers and make indoor bouquets. Harvest flower stems in the morning as the blooms open. Remove the bottom leaves, re-cut the stems underwater and bundle the stems together with VELCRO® Brand ONE-WRAP® Ties. The ties hold the bouquet stems together making them stand up better in the vase.
